About noe
Aloha! Welcome to my website. Although I am no means a techie, I want to be able to reach people about the stuff Iʻm passionate about. Thanks for visiting and I hope to hear from you soon!
I am currently an Associate Professor at UH Mānoa in the School of Hawaiian Knowledge, Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies where my interests lie in working with communities and building alliances across academic disciplines, to progress the health of our people and 'aina/kai. Today, as a professional conservation scientist, native Hawaiian community member, and science educator, I try to facilitate the communication of knowledge between scientists, local communities, and management agencies.

Noelani Puniwai was conceived, raised, and lives with her three children in the district of Puna, Hawai‘i. My family name means surrounded by-- all about—water; making water my purifier, my connector, and my kuleana to conserve and protect from the tops of the mountain to the depths of the sea. I grew up on the banks of the Wailuku River, diving in the tide pools of Kapoho, paddling in Hilo One, and dancing for our ʻāina.
